The body construction of all musical instruments is essential, not just the shamisen. Make sure to purchase one with a good “resonating spot.” Many beginners don’t think a quality instrument matters because they’re bad anyway, but that’s a mistake. They’ll never produce a beautiful sound. And then they’ll grow to hate playing and give it up.
